Oh, Curling

Curling. You temptress you. With your rocks and sweeping. The excited encouragement for the rock as it travels towards the target. The rules that I only partially understand. Curling. I never expected to love you, yet now I'm hopelessly addicted to you.

Ten minutes. That's all it took. Ten minutes was the threshold. Watch it for less than that and it seems boring, even nerdy, and leaves you wondering "is it really a sport?" Watch it for more than that and of course it's a sport - not boring at all - what was I thinking - I LOVE this sport. I wonder if I could learn it. Hmmmm?

Curling!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I remember loving this holiday when I was a little girl. I always wore something pink (and still do!) My mom gave the best presents too. It was never anything big, just really cool small stuff. My favorite was a heart shaped barrette - red- that was open in the middle so you hair showed through. I still have it.

Having boys has changed the flavor of the holiday for me. We got Simon his favorite series of books so we don't have to keep checking them out from the library (now other children will have a chance to read them.) Isaac is getting a sweet little stuffed hippo that I've had tucked away for a while. That's it, nice and simple - and not very heart-y or pink-y.

Before I go, I want to share one of my favorite things that Simon says. Tonight he wanted Rice Krispeeps. I just love it! You can have all the Krispeeps you want honey.

The First Real Attempt

Ok. Here we go. The blog is by no means complete. I still have a lot of work to do to get all the links, sites, patterns, books, etc, etc, up and running - but here we go.

February 12, 2010. First post.

We are under nearly 40 inches of snow in our neighborhood. The DC metro area has just seen the largest amount of snowfall in one winter - ever!

I have been knitting like crazy. I am finding that it's the best therapy for the winter blah's and the baby blues. Knit, knit, knit. I am developing a couple patterns for an infant and will post them when I get them ready. As for sewing, I have lofty dreams of finishing a couple projects as well as starting some new ones, but alas, the time demands of my wee little ones are too great at the moment. All I can squeeze in is some knitting. But oh how satisfying that is.

I'll try to post some photos of the snow and the kids later this evening. Till then, happy Friday!

P.S. Tell me there are more of you out there who are crazy excited that the Olympics starts tonight. I'm not alone, right?
